Shadow Shot Sunday 48 - New York

This is the New American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York that had just shortly opened prior to my visit. I love visiting all the main galleries and museums when I am in town, but especially love this one...

As you can see, the day I visited, the shadows were out to play too, framing the sculptures and other works of art in new and interesting ways...

I will be back again in New York for a week at the beginning of August on my way back to Mexico from London. Does anybody know of any interesting forthcoming exhibitions at the galleries and museums this summer??

In the meantime for more shadowplay click here for Shadow Shot Sunday... Have fun!!

Wonderful light and shadows!
Hope you're having a wonderful weekend.

Mine’s here: Round The Bend.

The angular shadows on the museum floor are artistic in themselves, so are perfect for a museum. A sunny day under the glass roof, we know that the art is not just on the walls...

Nice--those are some great shadows. And your banner shot (is that new?) is simply stunning.

WOW great shadows! Look like an interesting museum. That last picture with those colourful "tuftufs" looks simply fabulous. Those colours and the shadowds! Fantastic! Would love to visit NY and that museum one day. You are lucky to be able to enjoy all these lovely places!

The shadows create a lovely plaid. And here I was thinking NYC was covered in grey clouds lately. I bet the sun felt good compared to the out-of-doors.

Oh, wow... I don't think I have ever seen as many shadows in one place! Very interesting!

What have you done? Just when I had settled back into the routine of boring daily life after a trip to Europe, you do this to me! Sigh.

That first shot is amazing. I enlarged it and you can see so much detail. With the geometric shadows, the art and the brightly dressed people, it has the feel of an architects drawing.

O it is marvellous how the statues are placed with enough space around them to throw shadows.

Yes, I love the Met, too. You have organized successive shadow shots effectively. Will let you know if any event of interest might emerge!

That's a lot of interesting shdows. I actually have a friend who organizes gallery tours in NY. I'll check with her about what's happening in August.

Sunshine & museums...can't go wrong with that!!
We've been enjoying all of your pictures above - really neat!
Wishing you a nice week ahead!

Exquisite!!! Absolutely exquisite! The museum website should already have the listing of events for August. Any of the museums would as they plan their shows out several years in advance (so posting their events a good six months prior is the norm for their websites).

Hi Alvaro, Summer and Paula - thanks a lot for your comments - much appreciated...

I love the work you're doing with the collages, especially the Shadow Shots. I don't know much about NYC but Daryl at:
