Shadow Shot Sunday 27 - Washington DC

This week's Shadow Shot Sunday is homage to all the wonderful galleries and museums I visited, amazingly for free, in Washington DC this summer. Time was limited so it had to be ten galleries in one day. First up is the Renwick Gallery...

Next the Museum of African Art....

Swiftly followed by the Sackler and Freer Galleries which specialise in Asian Art...

And lastly the National Gallery of Art...

At the end of a long day culture vulturing like crazy to see as much as I could, the unusual afternoon light meant that even the Washington Monument obliged with some spectacular shadows of its own....

As a showcase of art from around the world, Washington seems second to none, and consequently I can't recommend a visit more highly enough. For more shadow sharp shooters, click here for Shadow Shot Sunday to check out more photography from around the world.

The Renwick pieces you show have such wonderful shadows, looking to me like kaleidoscopes on the surface. Or perhaps as sunbursts. The African art is reflective, the shadow adding a perfectly formed twin to the figure. The shadowy reflection of the Washington Monument is wonderful. A trip that showcases art is a learning yet very relaxing trip!

Ten in one day? You got some great shots but I think hiking 10 miles would be easier.
These are very different than my Yosemite shots but of equal value.

Spectacular! I'm surprised they let you take photos in those places! Goody for us, though!
