Weekend Reflections 45 - Rome

Rome was very rainy when I visited recently - so when in Rome and it rains - take puddle shots and reflect on the ruins in the reflections instead. This was taken in the beautiful baroque gardens surrounding the Galleria Borghese. I had plenty of time to wander and take photographs, as despite buying a timed ticket for the gallery two months in advance for 11am, a simple notice posted outside translated as "Gallery closed for an important meeting - come back at 3pm!!" When in Rome...........

Weekend Reflections 39 - Nice

Enjoying the new park in Nice on a lovely sunny afternoon, the reflections on the fountain pavement were sharp and clear....

La Coulee Verte in the heart of Nice is a wonderful addition to green spaces in the city.....and appeals to everyone resulting in a very enjoyable afternoon dodging the fountains, strolling from one end of the "corridor" to the other, or sitting on the benches people-watching.....

Weekend Reflections 38 - Nice

Sharp winter light and clear blue skies created these reflection shots along Nice's new "green mile" - a newly opened public park which acts as a green corridor or "la Coulee verte" through the city centre linking the Promenade Anglais and the National Theatre. On sunday afternoon children were loving the fun and excitement of running through the fountains and dodging the showers, whilst adults marched more briskly through. Weekend Reflections 34 - Monaco

The glass facade reflecting this wonderful sky of couple-colour is the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco which is currently hosting a rather spectacular Picasso exhibition entitled  "Monaco Fete - Picasso Cote D'Azur and Picasso Dans La Collection Nahmad". The first part of the exhibition displays works which trace all the places on the French Riviera where he used stay for the summer from the early 1920s to 1946, and the second part puts on show 116 pieces from the Nahmad private collection - many of which have not been displayed in public before.

Weekend Reflections 33 - Thames Path, Oxford

Another sequence of shots taken on my hike along the Thames Path - perfect if you want some peace and quiet in the tranquil English countryside - these were taken just coming into Oxford and as you can see you can still feel away from it all down by the river....For more reflection shots, click HERE for WEEKEND REFLECTIONS - enjoy!

Weekend Reflections 32 - The Thames Path

The Thames Path is a 184 mile national hiking trail which traces the journey of the Thames from the source to the sea - the only walking path which actually follows the full course of any river. Last week my sister and I walked the first 54 miles from the source at Kemble to Oxford staying at some of the most delightful riverside inns, and here are a few reflection shots showing different moods of the Thames from that first section. I am planning to complete the rest of the path when I can.....For more reflection shots visit WEEKEND REFLECTIONS - Enjoy!

Weekend Reflections 27 - Basel

Basel is a fantastic destination for culture vultures with a wealth of world class art galleries and museums to enjoy. This is a shot of the Beyeler Foundation which houses a magnificent collection of modern art ranging from Monet, Picasso, and Cezanne to Bacon, Warhol, and Lichtenstein in a glass-walled building designed by renowned architect Renzo Piano.....Basel might not be on your radar right now, but it is certainly worth it if you are at all interested in art........For more reflections click HERE for Weekend Reflections. Weekend Reflections 25 - Qatar

This might look like a sinister still from a menacing horror sci-fi movie, but it is in fact the interior of the new Qatar National Convention Centre where I recently took students for a Model United Nations Conference. (see previous post for shots of the stunning branch-spreading facade) Pictured here is one of Louise Bourgeois' spider sculptures that you can also find in the turbine hall at Tate Modern and outside the Guggenheim in Bilbao. I liked the way that the reflection extended the spider's legs and made it look like it was menacingly on the move.....For more reflections, click here
