Shadow Shot Sunday 43 - Centro Historico DF

Last weekend the sun reappeared in Mexico City after a ten day absence and the coldest time I have ever experienced here!! Ok it was only zero degrees, but without any heating and large picture windows and ceramic floors in my flat, that felt pretty brutal!! But hey the sun was out again, so that meant the shadows had come out to play too!!

The streets in the Centro Historico all specialise in selling certain wares - there is the street Francisco Madera where you buy gold jewellery, Calle Bolivar where you buy musical instruments, Dolores where you go to buy lighting and eat Chinese food, a street for bicicycles, printing stationery and so on. Calle Roma is the centre of auto shops and mechanics with displays of tyres and hub caps that quite become works of art in their own right...don't you think???

It is one of my favourite parts of the city to wander and take photographs as you always see something totally new or unexpected... For more fun with shadows click here for Shadow Shot Sunday... Enjoy!!

Only zero degrees! We consider that cold in Chicago so I don't know what you call it in Mexico. Glad the sun is back. Those wheels do make interesting displays.

The auto wheels are great in your pictures. The spokes on the metal racks leave shadows looking like pinwheels of different designs. Although cold for the area, the sun is strong and during the day it warms up, if only slightly...

Zero!! Yes, that would be cold in Mexico! I did have a small fireplace in my apartment, but with all the big windows, it didn't do much more than add a rosy glow -- pretty, but not very warm! I love your shadow shots -- as always. What interesting shadows the auto wheels make! Have a great weekend! Glad you have some sun again!

Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous! You have a great eye!

I'm so surprised that the temperature reached freezing in Mexico City. I bet everyone was wearing many layers of clothing to keep warm.

Nice wheels! I've never seen them displayed so artfully before. I've never experienced zero temps before either, and that sounds very cold to me!

What WONderful shots!! The shadows are great. It got cool here in Phoenix last week too. Also unusual amount of rain (for this time of year).

Very industrial looking shadows, cool street art...I feel your pain with the zero temps, while living in Florida and the temps would drop, my walk-in tiled shower was like walking into a meat locker...brrrrr...glad the sun is back for you, not quite for me.

These are great! Love the black and white, and I really love the one with the man pushing the cart. Just right!

We rarely have zero degrees - 6ºC and it's really cold here! I like the tyre artwork and wonderful reflection/shadows.
Cheers.

Hola! We are on the same side of the world now. It got pretty cold up here too and it was brutal without a heater.

Love the blog photo of Nopales. I have been cooking them lately. And like your sss photo shows, there are so many interesting things to view in Mexico!

Oh ... and visiting that museum is on my list of things I want to do.

The pictures of these hubs are beautiful! I like the first one, with the few lined up, and the later ones where there are so many. I like that you chose black and white too. Wonderful.
