Shadow Shot Sunday 53 - Real de Catorce

This week's shadow shot was taken in the streets of Real de Catorce - way out in the desert, way, way North of Mexico City. It is a former silver mining town and a former ghost town which is slowly coming back to life.....

Have you ever seen such a blue sky?? The light is so beautiful and clear that it makes for a photographer's paradise, plus culturally and architecturally it is such a rich town to visit....

From Mexico City, without a car, you need to take 4 buses via San Luis Potosi, and Matehuela with the final bus journey taking you through the 2km one way tunnel - the only way into Real de Catorce. Difficult to reach, but well worth the effort! For other shadow shots this week, check out Shadow Shot Sunday by clicking here. Have Fun!

That sky looks totaolly manufactured with cobalt paint! That's a lot of buses to get to Real but it is lovely.

Oh, I do remember those intensely blue skies!! Fantastic post and very interesting not to mention the terrific shadow shots! I also remember the seemingly endless bus rides on occasion, but I was fortunate when I lived there to have a marvelous driver who took me any and everywhere I wanted or needed to go. Hope you have a really great Easter weekend, Catherine!

The adobe was built to last even if the tile roofs were not. It is amazing that although built for utility, the style is so elegant in this once abandoned village. To reclaim the past is wonderful...

Wonderful to hear that ghost towns are coming back!
I love the first shot that is so grey and ancient looking.
And the wheelbarrow!

The sunny day really feels calm here. The blue skies makes my day feels so bright here up in Scandinavia.

Happy Easter to you.

Oh gosh there's so much colour in your photos! I love how vibrant everything looks! Now that's a trip I'd love to take regardless of how many buses or how long the journey :)

Hope you have a most wonderful Easter weekend!
