Shadow Shot Sunday 70 - Mexico's Bicentennial

As a tribute to Mexico's Bicentennial celebrated this week, the shadow shots are all of the Mexican flag and bunting proudly displayed on every building to mark 200 years of Independence...

The shadows of the bunting strung up on every street create interesting patterns on the terracotta walls...

The strong sunlight makes the shadow flags throw bold and striking shapes on the ochre walls......

All these shots were taken in the charming town of San Miguel de Allende - close to the cradle of Mexican Independence. For more shadowplay from around the world, check out Shadow Shot Sunday by clicking here.... You won't be disappointed!

I love flags with vibrant colors. I think Mexico's flag matches the Mexican spirit perfectly.

Catherine, my name is Cristina Potters. I write the website Mexico Cooks!--if you haven't seen it, I think you'd like it a lot. It's at http://www.mexicocooks.typepad.com. You might even want to add it to your blog roll.

Juliet Lambert recommended your blog to me and suggested that I write to you with an invitation to a DF blogger's meeting in October. Please email me for particulars. I look forward to hearing from you ASAP and meeting you at the DF meeting in a couple of weeks.

The sun is strong, so the flags are accented in shape and shadow. The flag of the magnificent country leaves a shadow that impresses mightily, the triangular lags leave a fun shadow behind. So nicely captured. Viva!

Super shadow shots - the coloured walls provide the perfect backdrop for the shadow flags.

Wonderful photos. Mexico has been through a lot in 200 years, and comes through with flags flying!! I love it.

Still a relatively young country! Are you there now? I envy you being there for the celebrations and the food! Lovely shots of SMA. That place is on my 'list'. You know, the bucket list.

I just love all those floating, sailing shadows on the warm glow of the walls.

I love these shadow shots. How I wish I could go to visit San Miguel. A freind and blogger hosts a journey there in November for Los Dios de Los Muertos, a holiday I celebrate every year. I couldn't afford the trip this time, but I will go next year for sure. They are going to San Miguel de Allende, small world.
Excellent photos of shdows and flags.

Peace.
