Genoa is saturated with 17thc Palazzos, the lavish interiors of which have to be seen to be believed, but these shadowy shots were taken down a side street away from the flashy facades just off Via Garibaldi, home to the UNESCO Heritage site of the Palazzo Rolli...
Palazzo Rolli takes its name from the Italian word for "list", and is comprised of some 44 palaces which were registered "on the list" to host any visiting dignitaries to Genoa. Be sure to visit Palazzos Rossi, Bianco, Tursi, Real, and Ducale when you are in this fascinating city...

These window guards cast the most fabulous shadows..and the black and white is the perfect medium. This is my kind of post...one filled with the linear. genie
I doubt any intruders will crawl through those windows. Great shadows!
the pics in black and white make them even more intriguing. great shots catherine!!
Nice shadows of windows railings.
the camera was actually set on colour - they just look black and white...
These are absolutely gorgeous! Although, I can't help but wonder how useless these windows would be as an escape route in the event of a fire.
These shots are so artistic - so abstract! Great shadows for the week!
The guards leave shadows that feel like wicker or thatch - lovely art created by the sun. Italians seems to make art from mundane things, style in the realm or ordinary in a way few others do. Nice stylish shadows!
Very creative shadow shot photography ~ ^_^
Beautiful, Catherine. I won't show these to my husband. We had a tight schedule in Italy, so Genoa was left out, only because we couldn't find a train down to Cinque Terre from there.

Oh the palazzos you have been! Excellent shadow finds.
The shadows create wonderful art patterns, far more fascinating than their real connections!
Nice black and white shots. Like them
