Where can you find this rather lovely pattern of shadows in Marseille??
Well, it is the fantastic new Museum of Civilisations from Europe and the Mediterranean (MUCEM) designed by Algerian-born French architect Rudy Ricciotti and opened in June as part of the celebrations for Marseille's year as one of the European Capital of Culture 2013...
It is this "veil" covering the whole exterior of the building which creates these amazingly intricate shadow patterns. Marseille is my favourite place in France - Don't hesitate to visit if you get the chance...

Fabulous shadow shots for the day, Catherine!! You do find great ones! Hope you're enjoying a lovely weekend!!
OMG! This is amazing! Feeling rather envious as there is nothing like it here in my neck of the woods.
Looks like a shadow-chaser's delight!
Wonderful mosaic of shadows cast by this delightful piece of architecture.
Really nice reflection and an interesting "article" !
Very cool patterns! It feels like a stained glass window minus the glass...or perhaps a jigsaw puzzle assembled (sort of :). What it does is convince us to explore, to see where the puzzle of a facade will lead the visitor. Fabulous post!
I want to run right over there. It is amazing!
Thanks for the lovely comments this week - much appreciated
Damn, that first shot is competition winner material. Really beautiful. Many thanks.
Greetings from London.
