Mesmerised by Monti......Rome

Recently I spent a few days in Rome and became totally mesmerised by Monti the neighbourhood where I chose to stay at Casa Santa Sofia - a convent run as a hotel by nuns from an Ukrainian Order - the yellow building above in Piazza Madonna dei Monti...

The Piazza itself is a delightful place which attracts people throughout the day who settle on the steps of the fountain and surrounding benches to chat with friends, eat lunch, read a book, or simply hang out and chill....

The cobbled streets surrounding the Piazza are equally enchanting with a mixture of old established trattorias, hardware shops, delis and bakeries as well as newer bars, boutiques, and cafes.....

Only eight minutes walk from the central Ancient Ruins, it is a little oasis tucked behind the Colesseum, a world away from the throngs of tourists who crowd Rome throughout the year, whatever the season. The exquisite details of the architecture seen in the doorways and windows are eminently photogenic...

And there are plenty of bookshops to find that erudite literary work with which to settle on the steps of the fountain back in the Piazza dei Madonna and soak up the atmosphere.....Enjoy!!

Beautiful place. Ukrainian nuns? I wonder what they are thinking of the situation back home. Lovely photos.

Greetings from London.
