Getting shirty Mexican-style

Don't you just love these gorgeous, traditional Mexican shirts that look so great on the guys here, young and old alike? They are set off a treat by the crowning glory of the choice of hat...just so cool!! As you can see, I am back to the vibrancy of colour here in Mexico!
This handsome style is so versatile and worn on a wide range of occasions....
Selling produce in Tepoztlan market.....

Playing mariachi music at the Tepoztlan Carnival.....

Travelling by boat to the Island of Janitzio, Lake Patzcuaro, for the Easter Holiday celebration....

Enjoying Good Friday with the family on the Island of Janitzio....

Graveyard decoration and vigil, Day of the Dead, Real de Catorce...

What are you enjoying about the style of dress around you right now??

It's mostly about warmth around here these days! Everybody is bundled up against the freezing temperatures. Mexico certainly looks warm and inviting!

It's all jumpers, wooly hats, gloves and scarves back here in miserable greay January London. All that knitwear is very cosy and colourful, but all the same I still can't wait til I get to Mexico, 66 days and counting...

Those shirts are great. Most women here wear fitted silk blouses with tube skirts made of cotton or silk. Guess I have to post some pictures of the national dress. Unfortunately, polyester and Western clothing styles are creeping in.

A Cuban In London said...

Once upon a time there was a little Cuban in London who used to be dressed by mummy and daddy. Daddy had some Mexican friends who visited him in Havana, Cuba, very often and used to take him Mexican shirts for his young offspring. The young offspring blossomed into a 37-year-old blogger who swore never again to wear a Mexican shirt in his life again! Although he does like seeing them on other men and especially when the images are as striking and as beautiful as these ;-). Many thanks.

Greetings from London.

PS: word verification 'aquel'. did they know I was coming? :-)

I bet you would still look stunning in a Mexican shirt!! but there is something about moving place... some things just don´t quite work outside the original country or context!!

Well, I don't like much about the styles I'm seeing here since it's mostly dark bulky coats and scarfs that cover faces. Chicago does have a large Mexican community and when it's warmer, I see these shirts and hats but not in quite so many styles!

oh man, i don't know if my favorite is the third or fourth one down. i can't choose!!

Great shirts! When we were in DF in 2005, we kept noticing the "gel boys" as we called them . . . young studs with the most slicked back, gelled up hair you've ever seen.

Hubby was so impressed we went into a drug store so he could buy "Mexican Gel."

Now, we buy it online. It's called Punky Junky. Highly recommended!
