Shadow Shot Sunday 106 - Mexico City

Where in Mexico City do you find these gorgeous blue walls and their shadowy, leafy patterns??

At the Blue House of course - Frida Kahlo's stunning abode in the Southern barrio of Coyoacan. It was the first place I visited here in the Big Taco...and it will also be one of the last. Walking through the rooms, seeing all her artwork on display and her Mexican kitchen full of traditional ceramic pots, is special enough, but for me it is the garden that draws be back for repeat visits....

It is in the garden where you can really appreciate the vibrancy of the blue, as well as the collection of Prehispanic and Mexican folk art tucked in every niche and corner.....

It was lovely being there last weekend as the house and garden emptied in the late afternoon, and the early evening shadows took over......

Those are beautiful blue ShadowShots. If I ever make it to Mexico City Frida's place is one I would definately see. Such a colorful individualist she was. Happy SSS.

The blue walls evoke the blue sky above. The shadows add a depth of texture to each structure, almost like arteries on the siding. Blue seems such a soothing color, like the cool blue of water. Such a lovely country!

What a stunning shade of blue - and the perfect backdrop for the leafy shadows.

Since blue is my favorite colour, I was immediately attracted to these walls!

I ALMOST LOST MY SHADOW

I almost lost my shadow,
I left it in the park;
I heard my mommy calling,
For it was getting dark;

She has no use for shadows,
She thinks they are quite grim,
And when she saw my shadow,
She thought it was a “him.”

I had to educate her
And tell her it was “she”—
And now my faithful shadow
Is welcome as can be!

I must admit I never associate the colour blue with Mexico. :) But it sure does look beautiful in these photos with the gorgeous shadows. :)

I visited Casa Azul back in 2003. Do I like blue? Well, when I returned back from my holiday (this is before I moved there) I did paint my interior blue and terracotta... :)
