Shadow Shot Sunday 125 - Nice

Summer is drawing to a close here on the Riviera, the beaches are closing down, and the shadows are getting longer and longer as Autumn looms large.....

Here are the shadows being cast by rollerbladers, skaters, cyclists, flaneurs, joggers and strollers on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice last weekend under these fabulously moody and atmospheric skies....

The muted greys, pale blues, and monochromes are vastly different from the vibrant azures and cobalts of summer...

But I am thoroughly enjoying seeing the turn of the seasons here, and Autumn I think will be just as fabulous as the height of summer...

Beautiful, just beautiful. How I wish I were back in Nice right now! I experienced summer there in August. Now, thanks to you, I can see the city changing as it heads towards the fall. Merci et bon weekend! Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

People dancing with their shadows. Dreamy. Lovely light. Painterly skies. I see you're adapting "nice-ly".

Gorgeous pix, heartbreaking info. They actually close the beaches? Doesn't it stay warm all year round? I need something to sustain me, even the thought of you basking in the sun, to sustain me through a cold Chicago winter.

I remember Nice and Cannes when I was there
many years ago. I wonder if you will visit the prison of the Man in the Iron Mask?!!! What an interesting life you live!

Beautiful parade of shadows through the seasons! It seems the people are almost like puppets shadow dancing! Your world is so beautiful!

You are still the reigning queen of the shadow shot, Catherine. I think you could retain the title no matter where you live.
I loved seeing the skies responsible for all those nice long shadows.
Laughed at the pun in Louciao's comment.
How can a beach be closed? Isn't a beach just the edge of the sea? Closed to swimming, I can understand, but closed-closed? Interesting.

The autumnal shadows may indeed be getting longer, but the beauty of the Riviera stays beautiful in all seasons. This looks as glorious as can be, and probably more cool than cold. With such gorgeous views of the sea nearby, no need to go anywhere warmer in the winter!

I can't imagine any season there being less than perfection. Your dancing shadows are a delight.

Long shadows, short days--the seasons change and, alas, so do we...

SHADOW SHOW

Shadows creeping through the land,
Shadows dark on every hand—
If they should begin to glow,
You had better run, you know!

I love the way the shadows form a design in your mosaics. Very graphic looking. And those skies-amazing!

Thanks for all the comments this week - much appreciated - never fear only the private sections of the beaches with all the set up sun loungers and umbrellas have closed down - the beaches are still open to the public for walking, sitting and swimming....
