Shadow Shot Sunday 131 - Cap D'Ail

We have had some wonderfully bright and sunny days here in December on the Riviera, so the shadows are still stark and strong...

Walking the coastal path between Cap D'Ail and Monaco at this time of year is particularly pleasing especially when you come across these colourful kayaks pulled up on the beach at Plage Marquet close to the Monaco border...

I really like the combination of colours, shapes, patterns, and textures....

The beaches in winter are still so appealing for a brisk walk - here are the contrasting blues of the rest of Plage Marquet with the high rises of Monaco in the distance...

For more shadow shots from around the world click here for Tracey's weekly meme Shadow Shot Sunday. Enjoy!!

Beautiful, Catherine, just beautiful. And the weather, Ah, the weather... Big sigh as I look outside at a typical Pacific Northwest foggy [and cold] morning. Bon weekend! Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)

yes Veronique - I know what that grey mist can be like in Seattle - I spent last Easter there and it was cold cold cold and then it rained non stop in Portland - it is a beautiful area - but the weather!! when are you coming back to the Riviera to renew all your lovely photos??

Those kayak shots make wonderful works of abstract art! Such bold colours and shapes. The way you framed them really does turn them into abstract canvasses.

thankyou Louciao - I loved the combination of patterns and shapes....

I agree with you, our beaches are so tempting and attractive in winter, when we have not to share them with thousends of people.
I like the way you pictured the kayaks, very creative view!
my pics today were taken place Massena. the arch is the entrance of the Chistmas market.
Btw, do you think we could have a cup of tea together one of those days? in january, after celebrations?.. think about it!

Oh, I do love all that sunshine and beautiful blue skies as well as your wonderful, colorful shadow shots for the day! And since you were here in Seattle not long ago, you know why I LOVE the sunshine! As I remember, ti was pretty gray and cold the day we met!! Hope your enjoying a lovely weekend, Catherine!

Ah, they are watercraft - the first view minus the explanation was like palm fronds. The cool factor is in the interpretation...the warmth of the Mediterranean is what I see more, and I suppose the winters there are cool, as opposed to the cold we see. The azure sea loos like paradse!

Those tight shots of the green kayaks are amazing!! Gets my endorphins going!

If no one picks up hosting SSS, I will still post my shadows as I have done for so many years. I do have an 'email subscribe' on my blog, so if you want automatic notification of my SSS posts, sign up for that. I don't post everyday, usually twice a week. If you visit me, I will surely visit you (but we have to leave comments so that we know we were by).

Such a beautiful parade of sharp shadows! The kayaks seem to cast a picket fence line of shadow! Great photos!

You're right: The shadows ARE stark. I wonder how much longer that will last...

IF I WERE A SHADOW

If I were a shadow,
I would seek the light;
There I would glow sleekly,
Black and shiny bright!

I love the kayaks and their shadows - such interesting perspective!

At first, I could NOT make out that they were kayaks. Excellent capture of the stark, well defined shadows.

I share your enthusiasm for colours, shapes, patterns, and textures. You've made lovely images with these are kayaks. (Wish you'd left the montages a bit bigger, though. ;-) ) This amazing weather is why my mother adored the South of France and didn't want to leave even after she could hardly take care of herself. I, of course, never minded to visit.
