I got up early a few weeks ago to watch Rafa Nadal win the French Open, and was rewarded by something I had never seen before!! The early morning sun streaming through the leaves of the rubber tree outside my balcony....
In England these come as house plants that have to be tended very carefully, but here in Mexico they are trees which flourish very easily. This tree is three and a half storeys high and totally encloses my balcony turning it into a little green oasis and paradise....
I really liked all the different bold shapes and patterns made by the sunshine and shadows.....

What a lovely curtain for your balcony this beauty makes. I like all the different shapes too and the colour is stunning.
You certainly were rewarded for getting up early with the wonderful Zen moment and realisation of what a treasure you have to keep you cool.
Nice shots.
What a fun discovery! Guess it does pay to get up early! These are gorgeous shadow shots, love the rich green color and the variety of shadows is delightful! Enjoy your weekend, Catherine!

Great shadows -- worth getting up early for themselves -- plus you got your tennis!!
We are finding kind of the same thing about plants without traveling quite as far as you did -- we're in Florida now(from the Pacific Northwest) and so many plants we babied along as houseplants grow wild and crazy outdoors here.
Fun blog you have -- thanks for sharing!!
Catherine I just adore these rubbery Shadow Shots! It is soooo cool the way the leaves have a sort of transparency even though they are thick. Love the bright green of these giants too!
These greens are just so alive and the shadows shapes are so strong and clear. Beautiful photos Catherine.
