Taxco is a beautiful town two hours from Mexico City famed for its silver markets - I have spent many weekends here tracking down lovely Mexican jewellery. The town is a historic hillside white village with winding, cobbled streets and narrow, steep alleys. All the lettering and signage is in black as is the wrought iron ornamentation on all the historic buildings making this the perfect monochrome town - even the white VW taxis fit the colour scheme.....For more fun with shadows this week, check out Shadow Shot Sunday by clicking here....
To build up the stamina required for a day spent trawling the silver markets for treasure, the breakfast burrito at Cafe Sacha is an absolute necessity!!

look at all those "bugs" behind the fence...nice shot!! now i'm hungry for tacos!!
What charm there is is the old world feel here. We don't see the intricate shadows of the iron fence on the stone pavement. Elegance that sits well under the strong sun. The burrito looks like a perfect way to start the day!
Ah, you do bring back my lovely memories of Mexico and Taxco in particular! Oh! And definitely the breakfast burrito! Hmmmm I could use one right now!! Have a great weekend, Catherine!

Awesome gate!
I want a breakfast burrito - even if I am about to have dinner! I love the shadows of the gate - and a town with lots of silver jewellery sounds like a very good place to visit!!
Great ornamental shadows, and I love all those VW Beetles. It's time for lunch. Too bad I don't have one of those burritos.
Lovely shadows by those huge fences.
That brings back memories...I spent a couple of nights in Taxco when I was in Mexico 25 years ago. Wonderful town. Lovely shot.
The gate casts a gorgeous shadow, Catherine.
For some strange reason I suddenly feel hungry for a breakfast taco. Hmmm.
Mexico's abundant sunshine must give you lots of opportunity for shadows. They seem to have an abundance of wrought iron as well which is even better.
I remember Taxco! It's a wonderful place to explore. You found a terrific shadow there, too. I also rode around in one of those VW bug taxis! Enjoy the weekend. Mexico is a wonderful place to be living!!
Are all those VW Beetles taxis? If so, they'd make a cosy ride!

A seeker of shadows one day
Asked shadows to come out and play:
“O shadows, my dears,
Despite all my fears,
I hope you will not run away.”

What a lovely little town! I like the taxis. They look like VWs! And that burrito looks delicious!

Yummm and I love the pottery plate as well.
Your shadows are so pure. It is only a small step from Merzedes taxis in Germany to VWs in Mexico. I love the uniform colourscheme for the whole town. It makes everything so elegant.
Hope you found some really lovely jewellery.
Oh, I'm so homesick for sun and warmth...and now I'm hungry...thanks alot!!! Guess it's a breakfast burrito, what a great idea, thanks!
Sounds like a place you would not be too happy to leave, but there are a few nice spots also on the French Riviera! :-)
Great that they keep all those VWs running, I guess Mexico was about the last place where the VW Beetle was produced, if I'm not mistaken. Breakfast burritos sound good too !
PS, I left an answer to your comment on the post from a few days ago, where you asked about blogs on the south of France... there are two in particular in my sidebar... Menton Daily Photo, and Avignon in Photos... enjoy...
Being able to talk about a silver market and a burrito breakfast for stamina in the same sentence sounds like someone's living pretty damn close to Heaven! And white VW beetles for taxis--too cute!
Thanks for all the great comments this week...very much appreciated...
I could use some fortification like that! Yum...
Love the shadow shot from the fence too. Yum again!
Nice shadow photo along with yummy breakfast burrito! Mexican foods are all nice!
I only wear silver so I know all about Taxco. WHat I didn't know about was that lovely and huge, red, green and gold burrito!
