I felt in the mood for some real vibrant colour this weekend, so luckily I am in the right country! Mexico has no shortage of sun, shadow, and vibrant colour - especially in the small town of Tlacotalpan in the state of Veracruz. Designated a UNESCO world heritage site, all the colonaded colonial buildings are the most amazing vivid colours....
Tlacotalpan is a quiet laidback town where locals chill out in rocking chairs on the porch at dusk, retire from the hot sun in the middle of the day, and cycle round the quiet streets in the late afternoon - the flavour is distinctly Caribbean. For more fun with shadow, shade and sun, check out photography from around the world by clicking here for Shadow Shot Sunday. Enjoy!!

So colourful! Thanks for showing me this vibrant town.
Oh, you make me laugh with your need "for some real vibrant colour this weekend"...as if you don't live surrounded by it every day, judging from your beautiful blog! Your eyes must be going a little colour blind and becoming ever in need of bigger, bolder, brighter effects. The equivalent for me would be something like, "I felt the need for some more white this weekend." Luckily, another blizzard is at hand. Absolutely amazing colours, Catherine. It does me a world of good to see such heat.
:-)
Wow, pink doesn't get much hotter than that !
I'm fearful that you may be rapidly bored in southern France, things are much more subdued there... although still beautiful in less colorful ways.
And if I may, I'll join you in sympathizing with Louciao, who may be going a little snow blind as well...
:-)
the green photo is my favorite color...also fond of the door and the windows.
I love the colours! I doubt you will become bored in the South of France - so much to see and do, wonderful food to eat, excellent wine to drink ......
I always enjoy your colorful reminders of how warm and sun-filled Mexico is! Terrific captures as always, Catherine! Hope you're enjoying a warm and colorful weekend -- enjoy it for me as well -- we're back to gray and grim!! Should be better in April though!!

Have a great weekend.
I love the colours and the warmth of the sunshine sounds very inviting right now.
Those are all really pretty shadow shots! I love all the colors and shapes...very nice! Happy weekend :)
The buildings all have bold colors, the chartreuse a loud green, the hot pink so eye-catching. The shadows of the iron window guard is great, the bottom soft pink arches warm. A beautiful town!
Your photos made me long to return to Mexico. Fortunately, I have a trip to Puebla scheduled in just two weeks! Do you think the colors will be as vibrant there as in Tlacotalpan?

Many shadow-seekers say,
“Oh, the one that got away!”
Why are you so uptight, folks?
Can’t you take light’s little jokes?

Yummy! All really fabulous 'eye candy'! Man, if one felt a bit down in the dumps, this should perk anyone up! I especially love the green and white building. So bold! So smart!
Gosh those colours are magic! How cheerful it must be to live in a place with bright pink and lime green buildings! Such happy and pretty shadows!
You definately captured the flavor of Mexico with its fabulous colors, shadowed verandas and beautiful haciendas! Being from Texas, I know Mexico pretty well. Unfortunately our border towns are not as friendly as they once were.
Great post and wonderful shadow shots!
What a great place to photograph! Love, love all the color with the bleakness of end of winter we are living through.
Such gorgeous acolour, architecture and shadows!
I love the first one in particular, it simply doesn't look real. Can't imagine what my neighbours would say if we painted our home in those colours, they're sumptuous.
All are great shots. Very interesting, different, and definitely colorful. Mickie
what wonderful vibrant colours!
Wonderful colors...thank you for sharing your views of the world with those of us with much more muted palettes!
Perfecto! Wonderful colors and shadows!
These are all fantastic and colorful with a nice shadows!
Reminds me, again, of what I love about Mexico. Beautiful.
