Shadow Shot 90 - Boston Common

I know lots of you are sick of the sight of snow and can't wait for the spring thaw, but living in Mexico for six years, a few days in the snow is stunningly beautiful. Last week I was in Boston for 5 days with a group of 16 Mexican students representing Singapore at the Harvard Model United Nations Conference. We managed to arrive just before a major snowstorm and we managed to leave just before the next one which was even worse. Some of the students had never experienced snow before ever, so a walk on Boston Common was truly unique for them......The sun was out and the shadows were striking....

Here they all are having lots of fun in the snow, discovering the joy of snowball fights.....

Aaaarrrggggghhhh... more snow !

Looks like all had a fine time, lucky to get some sunshine for casting shadows between the storms. Lucky you could get in and out, with all the thousands of flights cancelled...

Happy shadow hunting...

Mexican students representing Singapore? Now that's an interesting juxtaposition!

Your shadow-on-snow shots remind me of my days of living in Vermont and New Hampshire as a youngster. I have to confess that I enjoy the snow more from a distance now than close up!

Love Boston Commons....have never seen it in the snow - so thanks! Bet those memories will stay with them forever - I love talking to people who have never seen snow - seems so funny, guess we take some things for granted (when you get inches upon inches of the stuff!!)
Have a great week Catherine!

How wonderful for them to experiance snow! When we lived in Indonesia, our driver was always asking me what snow was like, but he never really understood my explanations!

I love these shadow shots in the snow, Catherine! I think snow makes a fabulous "canvas" for shadows. And I don't mind snow. It's the grey days of late December and early January that I don't like. :)

I think that we who are so jaded about this season have conveniently forgotten the simple visual beauty the snow gives us. Boston offers so many areas to capture shadows, and you have found all of them. The change from warm to cold is stark, but beauty is seen everywhere and in every season!

That last shot is priceless, are they having fun or what!!! Yeah we're sick of it, but we always are, it's just a pain(in the back) and we're always glad to see it go...next we'll be bitching about mowing the grass...HUMANS!!!

Have a fun weekend!

How fun it must of been for those who hadn't seen snow before. Glad you were lucky with storm timings and didn't get stuck.

Lovely shots. I quite like snow but I hope residents in Chicago don't catch me saying that. :-)

Greetings from London.

The snow shadows are so graphically pleasing, looking as if they were created by a very skilled doodler. It strikes me as a minor miracle that all the kids were outfitted for snow, arriving from Mexico like that. An experience of a lifetime for them.
